Volunteer

Have you ever wanted to work in a book store or coffee shop? Volunteers are always needed to organize inventory and assist customers in the Central Library Book Lover's Shop. There are also opportunities to volunteer at special events, and our semi-annual book sales.

Volunteer Opportunities

Book Lover’s Shop

Volunteers in the Booklover’s Shop work a regular schedule based on the needs of the shop and the time available by the volunteer.  Normally not more than one volunteer is scheduled at a time.  Most volunteers in the shop work about 2 hours at a time, twice a week, but this varies greatly. 

Coffee Shop Duties

  • Assist customers as needed
  • Restore general appearance
  • Run cash register
  • Make coffee and other beverages as needed
  • Restock all items as needed
  • Keep all areas clean and neat
Book Shop Duties
  • Restore general appearance
  • Check for restock needs
  • Take cart to back
  • Empty bins of donated books if needed
  • Properly shelve any books waiting in unsorted area (if time permits)
  • Pull books needed to restock shop
  • Return to shop, price and shelve the material brought from the back
